Our very own Senior Refrigeration Manager and C&S Sustainability Committee Leader Lesley Schafer was recently named Treasurer on the Board of Directors Executive Committee of the International Institute of All-Natural Refrigeration! Lesley’s extensive career accomplishments — including more than 11 years leading C&S’s Refrigeration-related Regulatory Compliance requirements and responsibilities throughout all refrigerated sites — make her uniquely qualified to help the industry make sustainable strides. Congratulations, Lesley! #CSProud

There’s an undeniable need to communicate better externally and perhaps most importantly internally - with young team members even more committed to the sustainability cause than customers, and they‘re more critical too. But many operators remain nervous about shouting loudly, publicly at least, about their carbon reduction progress – partly because the job isn’t complete. But as one CEO said: “Our guest-facing teams need to be able to articulate what’s good about sustainability in our business… they need training that’s clear, concise and accurate, and about the things that people can actually see in the restaurants.” Great insight on this from Nutritics and CGA by NIQ https://lnkd.in/eUvRrNGW#hospitality #sustainability

On 19 March, the Competition and Markets Authority published its second informal guidance on a on a collective agreement between UK supermarkets that aim to reduce #greenhouse gas #emissions in grocery supply chains. The informal guidance relates to a proposal to extend joint commitment between the #WWF and leading supermarkets. The proposal aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in grocery supply chains by requiring suppliers to set science-based, #netzero targets by an agreed date.TheCompetition and Markets Authority's willingness to provide guidance provides businesses with an opportunity to obtain clarity and assurance for their own agreements with competitors. They have confirmed they will not issue a fine to any of the parties to an agreement it has approved under its Green Agreements Guidance, even if it were to subsequently conclude that the arrangements infringed competition law. 🌲 🌎 🍃 🔁 👣You can read the guidance here
